A military history question:
On this day in 1862,
A. Mexican army defeated the French at the Battle of Puebla.
B. Union and Confederate forces battled at Williamsburg.
C. Both A and B.
The correct answer is C. And while few in New Jersey are commemorating the civil war battle (in which both sides claimed victory), Jackie Benavides’ Spanish 3 class is celebrating Cinco de Mayo! While still a major holiday in the Puebla region, Cinco de Mayo has recently become more popular north of the border. Her students created piñatas to celebrate- and she shared their work in this animoto. Look at her filming plan- this animoto demonstrates the piñata process- from the simple balloon, then the newspaper strips, to the final decorated product. Please comment on your favorite piñata- I enjoyed all of them!
Feliz Cinco de Mayo!

Ms. Benavides did a great job with the pinatas!
Luis,
You all did an amazing job- papier-mâché was never the best tool for me! I forgot to ask- did you fill them with anything? I hope not- they are too colorful to break!
