Better than a poster

October 31st, 2009 · 1 Comment

Why create a poster with paper and glue when you can create an online version with videos, animation, and more!  Try glogster (the education version is located here).  Play the record player (lower right) and listen to the sound.

You can create up to 200 student accounts quickly.  I am seeking a class who would be interested in glogging- will it be your class?

Vickie Kilpatrick (Middle School) used bighugelabs as part an English project.  “The magazine covers were part of a larger writing project in which students were asked to interview a fellow classmate and write a magazine article featuring that person.  The magazine covers were added at the end of the project to give an added visual aspect.  The students enjoyed working on this and having their pictures taken and applied to something they created.” This site presents many options for your digital images.

For New Jersey Teachers only- web literacy online!

October 29th, 2009 · No Comments

This morning I attended a seminar with Alan November sponsored by the Center for Innovative Education at Kean and the NJ Department of Education.  The presentation was thought provoking and very informative (when I sort it out, I will post more).

During this session, Alan mentioned online classes available (via the Department of Education) and his company.  The topic? Three classes on web literacy!  They are free for the first 1000 NJ educators.  These are self-paced learning opportunities.  After listening to Alan this morning, I realized how much I really don’t know- but here is a chance to become educated. Click here for more information and registration.
