Did you know Xtranormal speaks Spanish? You would know if you are in Rose Caubet’s 7th grade World Language class. Her students recently completed videos- they created the scripts (punctuation is very important), selected their characters- well, see for yourself below. Her class used the text to speech features in this application. Special thanks to JS and NB for Raul y Nora and to AK for Leonardo.

Everything you always wanted to know about genetics and more! Learn Genetics (hosted by the University of Utah) includes interesting interactives (the size of a cell, inside a cell, and more),virtual labs (click here for the DNA extraction one), as well as chances to apply your learning (become the space doctor and see if you can cure the aliens here).
This site is packed with information yet it is well organized and easy to use. While it is geared to the high school level, some of the material would be interesting for lower grades. There is a separate link for Teacher resources (lessons plans and activities).

Having spelling issues? Have your students try SpinandSpell . You can select from types of words (i.e., animals, around the house, etc). Select the image and then use the letter wheel to spell the word. The site also features “show the word” feature. This site would also help beginning readers and ELL students.
