About

Colette

Hello World. My name is Colette Cassinelli and I am a high school computer teacher at private Catholic high school in Beaverton, Oregon. I have over 20 years of teaching experiences in grades K-12. In July of 2007, I completed my Master’s of Arts in Educational Technology at Pepperdine University.

My passion is learning new things. I love to read, travel, listen to music and talk! I share my wonderful life with my husband and two teenage sons.

I am always on the lookout for great web resources and teaching ideas to use in my high school computers class. I teach Computer Applications, Newspaper/Web Design, Graphic Design, and Digital Video Production.

I am a Google Certified teacher, DEN STAR Teacher and have presented at several conferences including the Instructional Technology Strategies Conference (ITSC), Northwest Council for Computer Education (NCCE), the Innovative Learning Conference in San Jose ,the upcoming National Catholic Education Association conference in Anaheim during April 2009 and NECC 2009 in Washington DC in June.

I began a collaborative wiki about how educators are using VoiceThread in their classroom at: http://voicethread4education.wikispaces.com. Please visit the wiki and add your samples.

During my very first blog post, titled “Seeking the Answer” I share:

One of my favorite quotes is “We learn more by looking for the answer to a question and not finding it than we do from learning the answer itself ” (Lloyd Alexander). This blog represents my vision and quest for NOT discovering the answer – but probing the questions about the power of educational technology which hopefully will lead to newer and more fascinating questions to ponder.

I use this blog to share what I am doing in my classroom, to share new tools or projects that I am involved in or just reflect on my own learning. This is my self-discovery and I look forward to sharing it with you and learning from you along the way.
