Well, the Discovery Ed training was so successful that I have been asked to have a monthly PLC about DE.
I am getting daily emails from the staff about how much they are using DE and how much more they want to learn. Tomorrow I am planning on introducing them to the SOS strategies page, and will start with “Reading Between the Lines” and “Paper Slide.”
It is exciting to watch some teachers regain their enthusiasm for science due to all that DE has to offer. I am constantly surprised that they were unaware of all it had to offer. Most teachers now have classes entered in DE and are using the science techbook. Part two of our training tomorrow is for the more advanced members and we will continue to learn more about Board Builder. I love my job!

I am so excited to be in charge of Discovery Education training for the school tomorrow. The staff is really looking forward to learning about all that DE has to offer. Many have only been using it for videos and did not even know about the virtual labs or fun-damentals.
In addition the 5E lessons with standards built in and the possibility of creating and assigning assessments with instantaneous feedback and remediation are incredible.
I am also hoping to try to communicate the awesome power of the DEN and how much it has helped me grow my PLN.

The Stars Are Shining Bright

Have you ever been out in the country and looked up at night? You probably noticed that the stars appeared so much brighter away from the hustle and bustle of the crowded city and all of the distracting lights. That is exactly what DENSI 2014 is like for me. Here, in this most magical of places, away from all of life’s distractions, I have come upon many stars shining so brightly that I have needed to look away and compose myself just to take it all in. The sheer magnitude of knowledge here is truly mind boggling! In every nook and cranny I can find a guru ready to help. Although it is frightening to begin to walk the path of some of these educators, I have taken a few tiny steps. I now have a Twitter account and a blog. I have a feeling there are many twists and turns and pitfalls ahead, but I will continue to follow the light shining on the path as I am guided to a better future for myself and my students.
Come, and grow with me.

Yours in adventure,

Audra Barton
