TechCamp 2009 a Success

Over seventy educators from throughout Southwest Michigan came to Berrien RESA in Berrien Springs, Michigan, to participate in TechCamp 2009 on August 25 and 26. The two-day event included 24 hands-on sessions to demonstrate the integration of technology in the classroom. TechCamp is supported by Berrien RESA and Discovery Education.
Mike Bryant (pictured) of Discovery Education shared the first day lunch keynote with 50 Ways to Integrate Media into Your Classroom. Mike also presented two sessions, Roundtrip Tickets Anywhere: Google Earth in Education and Pump Up the Volume: 10 Ways to Engage Your Auditory Learners. Andy Losik, 2009 MACUL Outstanding Technology Using Teacher, presented the second day’s keynote, Get in the Game: Assembling Your EdTech All-Star Team.
Discovery Education STARs were active in the program. STAR Educator Emma Haygood presented Get Your Glog On and Michigan DEN Leadership Council member Cheryl Lykowski presented Global Explorers – Where Students are Making the Global Connections and Cache the Discovery – Geocaching in the Classroom.

This was the second year Berrien RESA has held TechCamp. Kevin Clark, Instructional Technology Consultant, and Dennis Lundgren, Director of Instructional Technology and Michigan DEN Leadership Council member, hosted TechCamp 2009. Kevin planned and coordinated TechCamp with the assistance of the Instructional Technology Department staff.
