Wonderful man. Very inspiring and a true educator that cares about if every child can find and follow his north star. Thank you for the inspiration.

This from Peter on his life mission.  Admire and love this mission….

My Mission

illustration of a boy reading a book entitled peter's storyWhen I was in 7th grade, something remarkable happened that changed my life in a wonderful way. An amazing teacher, Jim Matson, pulled me aside for drawing in class, instead of paying attention. Rather than scolding me, Mr. Matson asked me to try a project, tapping into art and storytelling to help other students understand a math concept.

Dizzy with excitement, I ran off to make a comic book. I cracked open the dense math text book and saw, for the first time, that these numbers were only ways of quantifying things and actions. Things and actions I could see and put to paper. When I brought in the completed project, Mr. Matson didn’t just see a comic book, but also a storyboard. “You’ve got the beginnings of an animated film if you’re interested.” A few months later, I had finished my first animated film designed to teach. And now I do the same professionally through my stories, films and the company I founded, FableVision.

My journey has been dedicated to helping kids, especially the “off the path” kids. I was one of them myself. Not every student is lucky enough to have a teacher, or adult, see his or her potential.

When I visit students in schools they ask me what my hobbies are. I say thinking, dreaming. If my art and stories can help inspire others to do the same, I’ll feel my life had meaning.

A Child’s WorkGreetings from the beautiful hills of Pennsylvania.  I am working on my digital photography skills for personal and educational reasons.  I find the search for photos that I like and can use freely on my sites, in my writings and in my classroom lesson planning to be tedious.  I am building a library of images that I can access and use that are all mine.  I created a lesson plan on social stratification for the DEN and used almost all my own images in the powerpoint. The lesson has more meaning for me and my students.  As a classroom teacher students love seeing themselves. Imagine their glee when they show up in a lesson!  Also images that we need like a timer or a clock has more meaning when the students recognize the objects.  Just some random thoughts on the importance of digital art.

Day DreamsI am really into digital photography now.   I am using a lot of my own photos for my power-points, like this one   Sunset Dreams and lesson plans.  I love Corel and use it a lot. I like turning my photos into one of  a kind works of art.  I have created an art studio that I call Mariposa Studio.  My next step is to sell my art online.
