Today was a Day of Discovery with Discovery Education at our baseball park here in Houston. We went over the components of Discovery Education, learned about Photostory and Moviemaker ;0), toured Minute Maid Park, and learned about Google Earth and how to embed videos. I am really excited to share what I learned with the staff at my school and hope to share with my district as well. I feel a lot more comfortable with the components-like the builder tools. I really think that teachers will like the new format. I know that most teachers only use DE streaming for the videos and would be amazed to see how much more there is. I will be writing an e-mail to my district technology coordinator to let her know my thoughts. What do you think about Discovery Education streaming? Have you already or do you plan to share it with others?

During my current class, I have enjoyed experimenting with different ways that we can differentiate instruction with technology. I have learned how to make a tic-tac-toe board incorporating technology and multiple intelligences, how to create a survey to differentiate instruction according to student’s interests, and create a Bloom’s taxonomy chart that includes weblinks for students. For many teachers, using technology in general is another way to differentiate instruction, because they do not use it at all. I do use technology in my classroom everyday. I recommend to others to look at their curriculum and see how using a technology tool might enhance the engagement and learning for their students. The experience of applying new technology tools to your current curriculum helps you see connections that you might not have made before. I believe that using technology engages the learner. Here is an example of using a tic-tac-toe board that focuses on multiple intelligences and technology integration.
