SYSK Monday: Hip Hop

Today’s podcast is about history… but not ancient civilizations, the Declaration of Independence, or the Civil War. Think much more recent — and much more musical — history. Like, hip hop music and breakdancing. Josh and Chuck read all about the history of hip hop music and then recorded this podcast about it: How Hip-hop Works.

With over 20,000 resources in Discovery Education, it’s hard to know about everything that’s available, so I was surprised to find that we have resources on hip hop music for everyone, grades K – 12. Some of the resources are listed below. Now get out there and dance!

K-2: Dance with Reading Rainbow: Meet Huggy

3-8: There’s science in that beat on DragonflyTV: Hip Hop Dancing

6-12: Learn about the Birth of Hip Hop on Worldwide English: Hip Hop Roots
