Doodle4Google

Do you love to draw? Sketch? Like to just fiddle around with lines and shapes in the margins of your notebook? If so, Doodle4Google is the challenge for you! Every year, Google opens up this competition to students, and one winner will see his or her artwork on Google’s homepage. Do you know how many people visit Google every day? It’s a lot. Google it! Oh, and the winner also gets college scholarship money and a technology grant for his or her school.

To help you prepare, we’re heading to Google headquarters, again, to live stream a meeting with the Google Doodlers — this is the team of creative people who make the Google Doodles on special occasions and holidays! It’s our annual Doodle4Google Livestream Event and it’s happening on Wednesday March 5th, at 1:00pm EST. Make sure to ask your teacher if you can watch it at school.

You can click on the picture or the link above to register for our Virtual Field Trip and get more information, including key competition dates and classroom activity packs.

Ready… start your pencils, crayons, paintbrushes, apps, charcoal, etc.!

I don;t want you to step out of your comfort zone, but do you know how much the scholarship money is?

    • Caitlyn (Reply) on Monday 24, 2014

Hi Hannah. March 5th is the date of our Virtual Field Trip, during which we’ll be broadcasting live from Google headquarters. The competition deadline is March 20th. We figure that will give you plenty of time to work on your submission after being inspired by the actual Doodlers during the Virtual Field Trip!

  6. Jeanette (Reply) on Monday 24, 2014

Oh my gosh!!! I’m in F.O.C.U.S (stands for fostering, originality, creativity, unique idea, self-direction, basically gifted) and we’re doing this!!! I almost won last year. Do you like to doodle, Jeanette? I do!

    • Cassidy (Reply) on Monday 24, 2014

You know, the prize money for the scholarship is $30,000 dollars and the technology grant is $50,000 dollars!!!

      • Alisha (Reply) on Monday 24, 2014

        • Cassidy (Reply) on Monday 24, 2014

          I know!!!

    • Jeanette (Reply) on Monday 24, 2014

Hi Jeanette! I do like to doodle, but I don’t think I have much artistic talent. Still, if I were a student, I’d probably enter. I won a competition when I was a kid for a poster advertising an orange — some kind of citrus organization or something… had forgotten about that until right now, actually. Good luck!

      • Cassidy (Reply) on Monday 24, 2014

I live in Alabama and when I was in 1st grade I won a art contest that they held that year. I drew a cat. You had what looked like a 6th grader and a 4th or 5th grader too. Out of those two kids that were older than me, I won 1st. But I honestly think NOW it looks kind of, kitty!!!

    • Jeanette (Reply) on Monday 24, 2014

Hi A. You can enter online or via regular mail and, yes, this would be something you would need to tell your parents/guardians about — he/she/they need to sign off on your submission.

    • Jeanette (Reply) on Monday 24, 2014
