Okay, so the deadline for Doodle4Google is today. Hope you submitted a doodle, but if doodling isn’t your thing, and you’re in grades 5-8, maybe you’d like to turn your attention to another challenge: the 3M Young Scientist Challenge (click on the title to get more information and enter the challenge.) You could be America’s next Top Young Scientist!

Students, grades 5-8, are invited to create a 1-2 minute video describing a new, innovative solution that could solve an everyday problem. Ten finalists will be chosen for their passion for science, spirit of innovation and ingenuity, and effective communication skills.

Thousands of students nationwide have participated in the competition and winners have gone on to do some amazing things; including speak in front of members of Congress, work with the nation’s top scientists, and pursue academic careers in the sciences.

If you’re interested in participating, feel free to join us for a free webinar about the experience from those who have lived it. The webinar is on the evening of Thursday, April 1.

Preparation Webinar: Thursday, April 1 @ 7pm ETREGISTER NOW!

Panelists include: Judge Dr. Cindy Moss, and 2013 finalists, Aishani and Anish.

Hi, Ms. Jeanette! (it seems the proper name to call you.) How do you get involved in virtual field trip? I’ve heard about those things.

    • Jeanette (Reply) on Thursday 20, 2014

Hi Shelby! Virtual field trips are accessible to everyone. We (someone or some people from Discovery Education) travel somewhere and explore it for you and then bring the experience to you, virtually — via an online event. Sometimes the virtual field trips include tours, interviews, activities, etc. You can find all our virtual field trips listed — and archived — at http://www.discoveryeducation.com/events! Let me know if you have more questions. :-)
