DE Streaming and Google Earth
For the last year, I have worked on a Google Earth project with Amy Duernberger, the SC DISCUS Program Directory at the SC State Library. The purpose was to showcase how great resources can be incorporated into a Google Earth kmz file. We have included content from DISCUS resources on this interdisciplinary project about the Amazon. I wanted to go a step further and add video and images from DE Streaming. This can be complicated so I decided to create my own “how to” directions. There are several ways to incorporate video, but I chose to convert the videos to swf format and upload them to a server. Then it is simply a matter of copying and pasting in the code in order to have the videos play in the placemark. The directions are here – Embedding DE Streaming in Google Earth Placemarks .
Geocaching Day Follow-up
Our SC DEN travel bug is in the wild! SpiritDogs retrieved it from ColaHeroes: Green Lantern’s Gateway To The City. I can’t wait to see where it shows up next. The cache that we planted at West Columbia Riverwalk has also been very popular. Go to geocaching.com and check out the log for River Monsters.
