Bus Ride, Monuments in the Rain, “I Can’t Take it Anymore”, Christmas Carols and “googley eyes”
OK… before I start this blog I must apologize. This blog is primarily going to be for the benefit of those who were here at the DEN NI last night. Specifically those on “The Fun Bus” with James our serious tour guide and his magical guiding umbrella. The folks at Discovery were so great to us last night and treated us to a professional tour of DC. We had a great time DESPITE some serious moments. My personal goal was to make James, our tour guide, smile. I FAILED
But he did give us a great tour AND a major workout keeping up with him. Despite his attempts at behavioral modification, SOME of us were quite misbehaved. NOT ME OF COURSE! SOME of us were laughing so hard we could not breath… We got to see The Capitol Building, The White House (saw the President’s motor brigade) and the FDR Memorial. The FDR memorial was FANTASTIC! I had not been there before and I will definately be going back to spend some more time there. Just as we were about to leave, my friend Barbara said to me “I thought it was supposed to rain tonight… the weather is holding off”…. GUESS WHAT! Five minutes later it was POURING! Most of us made it to the bus in time, but a few of the California Contingent got soaking wet. Since it was raining, we decided to go to the Kennedy Center next since it was inside. People were VERY excited about the Kennedy Center because they had WATER AND SODA. Many of us were very thirsty. By now things on the bus were getting a bit punchy… I have NO idea what was making people laugh so much… could have been the Christmas Carols, or my telling folks about my honeymoon, or counting churches… don’t know. What I DO KNOW…. you can’t trust grass, because you can’t put googley eyes on it, they just fall down and become dirt eyes! See what I mean here
