Things that make you go “hum….” (in math)

Taking part in a weekly math and science get-together with local teachers. Currently, we are in the midst of 6 weeks of math led by a professor from Uof M Flint. Very interesting ways to teach math to elementary students. He shares what the roots of math are.

Do you know what the line is called that is between the numerator and the denominator? vinculum.

Do you really know what acute and obtuse mean?

acute: means to be sharp or pointed.

obtuse:  ob means against or toward.  tuse means beat. So obtuse means to beat against. To make it dull, so an angle between 90 and 180 degrees is pretty dull.

Anyhow, just thought you may find that interesting.

What I found on the web….

Been a while since I just took a look around the web for cool resources for teachers,  students, and parents.

By the Way… —->

Oh Yeah! I’m presenting at this year’s MACUL Conference! Wow! Cool! My God what have I done?!

My session is on Friday, time to be determined, on how to use the online resources at the Library of Congress web site. I took part in a training last summer and part of the requirements was that we agreed to share what we learned and developed with others. I applied to the conference as my form of sharing.

And after only attending the conference for 3 years now I am now a presenter. SWEET!
