Planet Green - Show I’m Most Looking Forward To

Living With Ed : Planet Green

I have to admit I’ve been looking forward to this since it was on HGTV. I was able to see a couple of episodes when it was introduced but then it went to 10PM and I just can’t stay up that late. Now that the show is on Planet Green I hope to be able to watch all of the episodes.

Other shows that are going to be on Planet Green:

Emeril Green - That’s right! No longer on the Food Network. Planet Green has him. BAM!

Wa$ted - In your face with some huge carbon footprint households, the host try to help them be better Earth citizens.

Greenovate - Want to increase your property value and still save money on energy bills? Of course you do. This is the show for you.

Greensburg - Wiped off the map by a tornado, we get to watch how this town came together to make a comeback as the greenest town in the U.S.

Do you have a show you’re looking forward to watching? Let me know in the comments!

The Flock Browser: Eco-Edition

Flock Browser: Eco-Edition | Green Content Delivered Daily

Having more than one browser on my computer is a necessity now. It’s primarily from having different accounts for different tasks. I try not to mix my school stuff with home things and then there are the Second Life DEN accounts. So I use Firefox for most of my everyday tasks. I use Safari for most of my school tasks. Now I use Flock for most of my personal learning network stuff.

Flock is fantastic if you do any social networking as so much of the feeds and updating are built in. Whether you use Twitter, Flickr, Delicious, etc. Flock makes it easy to stay connected and on top of things. Flock is based on Firefox so most of the extensions that you love in Firefox will also work in Flock!

I was happily surprised when I saw a little heads-up that they had a special edition Flock with a focus on the environment. So with the new channel coming out today I thought I would share this browser goody with you.

So to get you started just head to http://browser.flock.com/eco/

On this page you’ll notice that they show you preview of the browser. Over on the right side is the download button. For most people it will no if you need the Mac, Linux or even if you are still using Windows.

You’ll notice that one the recommendations is the Treehugger blog. This is one of the best eco-friendly blogs out there and is associated with Discovery’s Planet Green. I would put it as a definite add to your Google Reader.

After clicking the DOWNLOAD FLOCK button you will be presented with the next page. Your download should start automatically. The steps on the page will walk you through the installation process.

Once you have gone through the installation, you’ll want to launch Flock for the first time. You will have the choice to import your bookmarks and some settings from your other default browser. The first time it comes up you’ll see the screen you see to the right.

Take some time to explore. Click the tabs. Flock helps you along the way in adding your social networks no matter what it is. If you go to a site that Flock knows and works with, it will give you a tip.

Going Green - Shop Local Produce

Peak-Season Map at Epicurious.com

One way to make less of an impact on the environment is to eat locally grown produce when it is in season. Think about the amount of energy it takes to ship fruits and vegetables from other climates just so you can have them out of season. That’s where this map below comes in. You select the month of the year and then your state. It then gives you an idea of what is grown in the area that is available in that month.

Then use this link http://apps.ams.usda.gov/FarmersMarkets/ to do a search for a local farmers market.
