LA STAR Educators will be host to our first LA DEN Event on June 7, 2008 at the Audubon Zoo of New Orleans, LA.
Those in attendance will be going on a “GPS Tour” of the zoo and follow-up with the creation of an instructional project that can be correlated and integrated into their curriculum. Using a GPS for location of various animals, locations, and objects such be very interesting…! Our hats go off to the Nicole Brondum, Tracie Spicuzza, and Heidi Wilson for hosting what I know will be an enjoyable and dynamic learning experience.

It is truly my pleasure to be a part of the Discovery Educator Network. We are in the process of starting a Louisiana DEN Leadership Council and are looking forward to many good things to come in LA…! Please communicate your ideas, suggestions, comments, etc. that will be of benefit as we strive to get Louisiana up and going…!
On Saturday, February 2, 2008, at least 30 sites nation-wide were host to a unique technology conference which featured virtual discussions regarding timely technology topics as well as educational resources that compliment the use of Discovery Education’s Streaming. Attendees took part in several keynote, webinar, and breakout sessions during the course of the 6-hour event. In Louisiana, the DEN Virtual Conference was held at two locations: Northwood High School in Shreveport, LA and West St. Mary High in Baldwin, LA. Many in attendance were very pleased that they were able to participate. The conference participants expressed their pleasure in receiving meaningful information concerning resources which will enhance their instructional activities in the future.
