Notes from Instructional Technologies Strategies Conference

In Portland, OR over the Presidents Day weekend. (http://itsc.oetc.org/index.php)

I’ve enjoyed using www.jottit.com, an instant wiki tool.

1. District-filter friendly (at least in our district).
2. Unlike Google Docs, which I also like, no email account needed.
3. Classrooms can have the teacher or other trusted adult doing the text entry and share information, quiz questions, or literature discussions with each other.
4. Tip: Collaborators would do well to have a Word document rolling so they can do their writing/editing ‘on the side’ and then just paste their content into jottit editing window.
5. D.E. connection: Collaborating classrooms can be viewing the same streamed video and sharing understandings/perceptions as a follow-up activity.

ImageLoop.com–great site

I like this site. I learned about it during the DEN Virtual Conference.

DEN Blog– Albany, OR

Finished the DEN Virtual Conference from home and learned plenty. (Not sure why the date below indicates Aug. 31, 2007. Feel free to guide me on this.)

While I knew the DEN presenters would be providing the PPTs and other resources, I still used SMART Notebook’s screen capture tool to take pertinent snapshots and place them in a Notebook document. I was able to immediately review some of the best stuff I learned, including…(drum roll)

  1. Matt M’s incorporating Web 2.0 widgets (Voice Thread, SlideShare for starters) into DE builder content.
  2. Alan Levine’s 50 Web 2.0 Ways to Tell a Story (courtesy of Steve Dembo)

Nice job, DEN organizers, including Jennifer G. who kept her NW cohorts plugged in with all the right info.
