Since I will be teaching the SAME thing, for two years in a row, I feel much more comfortable trying to incorporate technology with my students. We’ll see how this goes!
Have any ideas for 4th graders? Please share!

I can NOT believe how many people were there to see all of the Free & Fabulous Web-Based Tools! I was pleasantly surprised. Since it was so successful, I’m going to continue adding to the list. I’m going to add the list on here somewhere – sometime soon. I hope to make the list grow and make it something people can truly use!

Here I am again at MACUL. I really need to blog more than just at this time of year!
This year, I was to present with Pam Shoemaker, but unfortunately, she’s home sick with Pneumonia. Bummer!! I was so looking forward to presenting with her!
Our topic to present is Free and Fabulous things teachers can do on the Internet with their students. Teachers K-12 and even higher can use the sites we’re sharing. I’ll be sharing Skype with people this morning… hopefully we can put the technology to the test and have Pam Skype in with us! We’ll have to see….

On Thursday, April 17th, I will be hosting a a PLC hour on Blogging in the classroom. I’ll share examples of kid work as well as allowing teachers time to blog – on this article and workshop, actually.
Did you like the session?
How do you think you would use this with your kids?
What else would you like to know about blogging?
What do you think kids would get from an experience like this?
Feel free to share and discuss!

Yeah, I never thought I’d be SO hooked on twitter.com — but I am!!! Who knew that “following” someone would lead to so many different ideas and resources!

I was thinking… I’ve spent these past two weekends (for the most part) at conferences for school. One weekend was abpout technology and the other was for reading. At one conference (the technology one), the books were about using technology in the regular classroom. At the other, the books were about reading, writing, and teaching it all.
I didn’t really see anything that would take both worlds and combine them. I don’t want these worlds to collide, but blend and combine with a friendly tone. I am still looking for a book or informational resource for using technology in the middle school language arts classroom. I’ve got enough knowledge, but don’t know if there is a need out there.
Hmmmmm…

Here I am at MRA, in a blogging workshop. Interestingly enough, we’ve been given some time to write about blogs. I’ve actually tried blogging, but it didn’t work out so well in the end. It worked really well when we used it for novel study, but after that it kind of fell off… perhaps it was because I wasn’t really ready to use it outside of the novel study. The kids were using the blog to compare MSU vs. UofM. Probably should have thought it through a bit more… ya think?

Here I am! I’m a 6th grade Language Arts teacher and am excited to be a STAR DEN Member. I use technology as much as I can in my classroom. If anyone has great ideas to incorporate computers and reading, that would be amazing!
