50 Ways to Integrate Discovery Education streaming

A run-down of ways to integrate Discovery Education streaming content into your lesson.  We will highlight many of the 50 ways, with a step-by-step focus on making powerful presentations.  Tools used during this workshop: Discovery Education streaming, Microsoft PowerPoint & Apple Keynote.  Participants will create their own linear and nonlinear, 5 slide presentation on a single concept within their content area.  Select student & teacher projects will be highlighted and critiqued.  Participants will also learn about the Discovery Educator Network(DEN), how to become involved in the community and receive on going support from Discovery and the DEN.

 

iscovery Education streaming - Assignment, Quiz and Writing Prompt Builders: Brick-by-Brick

There are thousands of video segments, images and articles that students can have access to at home with just a few clicks of the mouse.  This workshop will focus on the “Teacher Center” tools found with-in Discovery Education streaming .  Each Builder was designed so educators can assign students content.  Students may access these assignments from anywhere they have an internet connection.  Educators can assign a student a series of video segments on Shakespeare’s Macbeth, articles and images on cells and/or video segments followed by a quick quiz.  We’ll show brick-by-brick(step-by-step) how to easily create assignments, share them with your colleagues and quickly differentiate your instruction.  Participants will also learn about the Discovery Educator Network(DEN), how to become involved in the community and receive on going support from Discovery and the DEN.

“Get a Life, a Second Life That Is!” is a webinar aimed at educators who would like to learn more about Second Life and how this virtual world can contribute to your PLN (Personal/Professional Learning Network).  Brand new to Second Life?  Join the WebEx!!!  Thinking about entering Second Life?  Join the WebEx!!!  Never heard of Second Life?  Join the WebEx!!!  Although ‘veteran’ SLers are welcome, the webinar will be covering the basics of Second Life (how to create an account, etc.) and opportunities that abound for educators in-world.  

Second Life hopes to see many of you in-world after the webinar and as such they STRONGLY suggest that IF you THINK you MIGHT want to see what Second Life is all about, please download the client (FREE) and sign up (also FREE) PRIOR to January 15th.  You’ll find all the information for this in the Google Groups in the ^Files^ section.  The document is called “Creating an Account in SL.” And of course, if you have ANY questions about downloading the client and signing up, please let them know and they will guide you along.
