Teaching Teachers

November 11th, 2014

On Monday,November,10th, I hosted two sessions of using Boardbuilder for my school district. I was definitely feeling nervous but I needed to challenge myself. Teachers were asked to volunteer  to teacher other staff members what they use in technology. I decided to sign up. I didn’t feel nervous until the morning of the event. As soon as I started talking I knew I would be ok. The attendees were so grateful for learning a useful tool for themselves as well as students. I’m really glad I volunteered for this and will continue sharing what I know. This has brought me full circle with the experience at Den2014 with all the wonderful people who shared their knowledge with me. Again, thanks to the DEN.

It has been 5 months since DEN2014-Nashville, yet I think about it daily. My teaching life has forever changed after an incredible week of  high energy, wonderful, people who were so willing to share their knowledge with me so I can share with others. The amount of technology was mind-boggling to me. I heard about so many apps that people were using in their classrooms and the positive impact the tools of Discovery Education have on teachers and students. Everywhere I turned were fellow educators to answer my questions and help me with technology, I am so thankful for their patience. The week was planned to perfection, (Porter Palmer), the minute you arrived you were greeted by people with incredible passion for learning, teaching, sharing and being part of Discovery Education, truly an experience to be a part of. In the months since Nashville, I have blogged, tweeted, facebooked, and in the near future will skype with a fellow teacher. I have tuned into webinars (s0 fun), and all day Denpaloozas. I’m addicted to it all. There are so many wonderful people to support you that you just can’t help but to pay it forward. So, how DO you say thank you for such a wonderful experience except to pay it forward and just truly say,THANK YOU!!!!

Fun with Denvoices Connect

September 30th, 2014

Had so much fun on our first practice with the “Agents of Change” song. The classes were so receptive and immediately wanted to get up and dance. So cool. We discussed the meaning behind the song and explained that the students will take part in this international event. They were incredibly excited and are looking forward to our next practice. We also hope to sing for our whole school at an assembly after we have taped ourselves. This is such fun project to be a part of. Thanks for the opportunity,Dacia.

Fear of technology has held me back. I fight this fear every time I need to learn something new in technology. Den has helped me chip away at this. I may be going slower, but I am and will get there. FIGHT THE FEAR.  THIS IS MY FIRST BLOG.
