My Green Project
So, I have been tring to prepare a website for a project I want to start at my school. This project will hopefully involve several classes outside of our region of the world, so the kids can get a feel for the world outside of their neighborhood. Many of my students are limited in their traveling and would be very excited to learn about different cultures.
In my search for all things Green and International, I came across O Ambassadors. For the people who are chosen to participate, Wow! What an honor it will be for the selected teachers to get to work with one of the biggest network of foundations, in probably one of the biggest “save the earth and children” campaigns I’ve ever seen. I was creating something like this on a much smaller scale when I found this… so I feel small!
As a teacher, I know that each of us has to work hard to make a difference in tomorrow’s world. But thinking globally from my little town of Houston, can be overwhelming. I had the honor of meeting Carol Anne at the DEN National Institute who does a global project called Rock Our World. Her ability to lead is inspiring to others of us who want to make a difference as well. So, even though I feel small and even though I see others doing similar projects, I hope I too can encourage my students and project participants to try and make a difference in their global community through this Green 180 Campaign.
If you have any global project ideas centered around “Being Green” I would love to hear from you… even if it is just a link to another site. Lesson plans and ideas on being green would be well received gifts to my project. If you have done anything before, please let me know… moral support will be needed as well. Please watch for more on my push to begin the Green 180 Project. The one thing I really need is locations on the internet or by snail mail to find teachers wanting to participate in a global learning projects. Do you know of any? Please leave a comment and let me know where you have met top notch international teachers.
Thanks in advance for following me through this adventure. Once I get the site up, I will post the address for you to see what it is all about. I am still ironing it all out and trying to get the thing we as teachers all look for… FREE resources!
