We had a great time at TETC this year with the DEN. Teryl Magee and Tim Childers did a total of four sessions, two of which were based on DE Streaming. Brad Fountain did back-to-back presentations for 2 days on DE Streaming, Science, and Health. DE Assessment also did one presentation. Michelle stayed at the booth in the exhibit hall and did a fantastic job representing both DE Streaming and the DEN.
On Thursday evening we invited people to join us at Bailey’s Sports Bar and Grill for a night of finger food, football, and fun. We played pool for hours.
The weather worked against us. Just prior to walking over to Broadway the snow started coming down and the temperature plummeted. While we didn’t get much in downtown Nashville, some people got worried about getting home and left Thursday night. In all, there were about 25 of us that spent time together at the party.
The best part of the night for me was getting to share the TN DEN, Hall, and Brad with some of the IT department from my district. I’m really glad they got to make it because they are a fantastic group of people who save my bacon nearly every day! I’m just sorry that the pictures I took of their pool playing turned out blurry and dark. They aren’t in the short slideshow below! (Click Full Screen for best viewing).
TETC is just around the corner. Teachers and Administrators from all over Tennessee will descend on Nashville from December 10 to 12 to learn about using technology in the classroom and beyond.
This year we are in for a HUGE treat: THE Hal Davidson is one of the keynote speakers for this conference. Hal is a major rock star in DEN circles, and we can’t wait to share him with others!
Teryl Magee is presenting on BrainPop. BrainPop is not only a great video tutorial site, but there is also a terrific collaboration portion to the website that just started in the last year. You won’t want to miss Teryl’s presentation!
I will be doing a presentation on using Skype in the classroom. With any luck, we’ll be able to do some live examples of Skype’s usefulness as well. If you are new to Skype, or thought it was just a chat box, or a way to get into DEN Webinars, then stop by and learn some best practices for Skype use.
Teryl and I are tag teaming to do a presentation on the 3 Builders in DE Streaming as well. If you have teachers or administrators coming with you that haven’t been exposed to these terrific tools, make sure you send them our way.
I’m sure there are other great STAR educators presenting at TETC as well. Feel free to leave a comment on this blog post and tell us what you are presenting.
AND, Teryl is feverishly working on a DEN get together after hours. As soon as those plans are finalized we’ll post an update on the blog.
See you in Nashville!
I’ve posted a blog on the TN site about our DEN Social at TETC. We are meeting Thursday, November 29th, at 7 PM at Caffeine, a great little wifi hotspot located near the Convention Center.
For further details, follow the TN DEN Blog over here.
Not going to TETC? Not in TN? There’s even instructions on how to join us via Skype!

We’ve been offline for a while now, but the new website is up and operational (and I think I’ve figured out how to blog again) so we’re back with a vengence! Look for new and cool ways to incorporate technology into your classroom, teacher-created resources, and new DEN events in the TN region. They will all be right here on the new and improved TN blog!
