Louisiana DEN

For all those who will be attending the DEN Regional Event at SMU August 1 and 2, the Texas DEN has started a wiki which includes a place to complete information if you are attending the regional conference. It is a good idea if educators from other states who will be attending the conference participate in the wiki, and if you want to find a roommate, you may find one there. The Discovery Educator Network has outdone themselves once again! This time it included a trip to their studio where STAR DE’s were given access to a professional cameraman and green screen. The session started with an overview by our own Steve Dembo who emphasized that we were to take our time and had words of encouragement to help calm our nerves. Once we broke the ice, it was open-season after that. Thanks to fellow DEN STARs who bit the bullet and jumped in front of the camera! It was a fascinating experience that surpassed even our DNI 07 green screen assignment (which was pretty good itself)! And it doesn’t end here. The professional footage will be available to all LC’s to use as we want - in classrooms, conferences, or on youtube! Thanks again to Discovery for always supporting educators and helping us create a new generation learning environment in our classroom!

Hello Louisiana!

Let’s recap some of the events at the DNI Leadership Council today. We started with The Hall Davidson sharing his information and ideas about creative cellphone uses we should be fighting for, not against. Check out his clever ideas over at the speaker’s page where he has generously donated his podcast and presentation pdf files! Also check out the wiki for several resources from other presenters, including my stuff up for Goddess or God Complex. We are learning and networking with each other and this trip promises to be the best one yet! Each year you think they could not possibly top last year’s event, but somehow this young team of futuristic leaders pulls through! Great job guys and gals and whatever you could call Mike! You’re all a class act and really good sports. Just one more reason to love the DEN!
