Den Updates

*Siemens We Can Change the World Challenge*

- The Siemens We Can Change the World Challenge (http://wecanchange.com ) is open to K-8 this year and next year it will be K-12. Since this is

a program that the vast majority (and next year everyone) of the community

can participate in I wanted to truly enroll the LCs and the entire DEN in

the challenge.

- So, here’s our two-part DEN Challenge as part of the Siemens We Can

Change the World Challenge.

1. Any STAR Discovery Educator who enters the Siemens We Can Change

the World Challenge by January 31, 2010 will have his/her name put into a

drawing to win a trip to the NSTA National Conference in Philadelphia, PA

(March 18-21, 2010). Airfare, hotel and conference registration will be

covered by the DEN. You must be a STAR Discovery Educator and

you must let

us know that you and your students have entered the We Can

Change the World

Challenge by completing this

form<https://lrougeux.wufoo.com/forms/den-entry-siemens-we-can-change-the-world/>.

2. *The state (where there is a DEN Leadership Council) with the

highest number of entries to the Siemens We Can Change the World

Challenge

will earn a Day of Discovery in conjunction with the DEN’s Spring Virtual

Conference. The day will be planned, managed and executed by

the DEN team

giving the state LC a break. Hall Davidson, Steve Dembo and

other members

of the DEN team will be there in person to present. *

*DEN’s SciCon - January 10, 2010*

- On Saturday, January 10, 2010 we will be hosting a science-themed

virtual conference. We would love to have the LCs host in-person events

connected to the day. More details will be sent soon, but if you are

interested you can start thinking about locations for the day.

*DEN Guru: Deadline is November 15*

- It goes without saying that within the DEN community we have an

overabundance of talent. Every STAR has his/her own special talents, skills

and passion for utilizing digital content across the curriculum. We want to

continue to provide opportunities for STARs to share their knowledge with

the community so we are pleased to announce another membership level in the

DEN - DEN Gurus. Intrigued? Check out the DEN blog for the details.

*DEN Hoodie Promotion*

- We know that you do some awesome work in your classrooms using

Discovery Education resources. So show us! Upload a 1-2 minute video,

podcast, or other multimedia file that explains how you use Discovery

Education resources to engage your students and get a limited edition

Discovery Education sweatshirt (aka DE Hoodie).

Share your work and get a hoodie at:
