As I learn technologies new to me, I hope to get feedback from other educators and technology users so I can integrate these ideas into the classroom.

HI, Mary. I'm signed up for RSS feed to your blog. I have found that Microsoft Movie Maker 2 is very easy for kids to get the hang of and very satisfying for them-sort of an instant gratification. The music is difficult because of copyright issues which the students really need to be informed about. - Barbara Yalof [7/5/2009]

I use authorPOINT lite (free) and authorStream to create videos. There is an example on my web site that I use for orientation of my online classes.

I have just ordered a Creative Labs Vado HD 720p Pocket Video Camcorder so I can handwrite the answers to mathematics homework questions (that my online students request help with solving) and then will use the camera to take pictures of the solution with my voice explaining the steps.

Mary,
I have had great success using Movie Maker. Right now I am teaching stop-motion animation to 3rd-5th graders at a summer camp. I have found that as long as the images are each under 100 kbs. the process runs smooth. But if a student's images are a large file size, the software freezes frequently. My solution is to be sure I have the settings of the camera set at low rez and/or do an batch image processing and change the resolution in Photoshop.
