Just read another great DEN blog from Chad Lehman, Give DEN #thanks. I think it will be very interesting to read all about those who helped encourage us to join the DEN and become DEN stars. I am thrilled to be one of the stars in the DEN Galaxy. I love watching how each of us twinkle. So I decided to share my story:

I would like to send #DENthanks to Ronique Hicks.  She provided professional development to our school district. At her closing, she did a brief overview of the DEN.  Her joy shined through as she discussed her participation. She encouraged us to sign up during the coming days. I signed up that night. The timing was amazing. Because of Ronique’s invite to the DEN I was able to attend an amazing event with Hall Davidson in a small group of maybe 25 educators for fun and integration ideas.  I had such fun that I was hooked. I offered to join the Leadership Council as a blogger. Fate had other ideas. Out of other necessities in the DEN I became the events coordinator. Then I became a co-chair. Then I became a chair of the NYDENLC.

I love so many of my DEN friends the list is too long… just look at my Twitter or my Facebook. We aren’t just DEN friends. We are true friends. But my #DENthanks need to go to Ronique for originally inviting me to the DEN.

Saturday was the DEN Fall Virtual Conference.  Thanks to everyone who came out and attended the NYDENLC’s in-person event in Portchester.  Special thanks needs to go out to Andrew from Buffalo Wild Wings who helped coordinate everything at the location.  Your assistance was much appreciated.  And of course we have to thank our lovely waitress, Alex.  She really got into the spirit of the day.  Not only did she take excellent care of us, she posed as paparazzi for our DEN photo.

During the conference I was told that I won  a 2011 Discovery Educator Network Membership Season MVP!  The official email states: “That means you wracked up the most points in your state or province during the Membership Season and you’ve won the coveted, limited-edition 2012 DEN MVP jersey.” Did I mention I really wanted to win that T-shirt? Very happy little DEN member.

The day was fun filled.  Between meeting new den members, sharing ideas, learning from the online conference, and enjoying a great meal.  Thank you Discovery! Can’t wait for the archive to be posted so I can fill in the gaps in my notes.  What a fabulous day!  Thanks to all those that were a part of it.
