NYS - Local Assistive Technology Training Available
The Capital Region BOCES and the AAC Institute are proud to announce
that the “Local Assistive Technology Specialist” (LATS) Certificate
Training will be held again this summer in Jericho, Long Island, July
20-24. The LATS training supports our Priority Goal of ensuring that
all students with disabilities have access to a trained AT Specialist.
Please help us and take a minute to forward this notice about the LATS
Training and the attachments to your email networks, especially your
local CSE Chairpersons. They or their staff may earn the Local
Assistive Technology Specialist (LATS) Certificate
in Basic Assistive Technology Services. Admission is open to all
special and general educators, administrators and therapists
who provide services to students with learning differences ages 3-21.
The cost is $475 per person for course registration and materials,
computer lab access, and Certificates. CEU’s are available at no
additional cost.
We will provide all participants with opportunities to develop a local
project for systems change that infuses assistive and instructional
technologies to address the needs of all learners in the classroom.
Emphasis will be on practical applications
in the real world of the diverse classroom rather than minimal
compliance with federal mandates for these initiatives.
