*This is not a DEN sponsored event, but a unique opportunity for New York educators.  Please comment if you’ve been to the museum before or if you plan on attending this event. I’ve never been before, but I’d like to check it out. - Christine

Yes We Can!

Are you planning to celebrate the inauguration tomorrow with your students? If so, be sure to add this VoiceThread to your “To Do” list. The goal of this Inauguration Day Voices project is to “capture the voices of individuals exploring and expressing their own perspectives on this historic event.” Be sure to listen to the VoiceThread first to hear the directions before adding your own student responses.

Celebrate New York’s 400th Birthday!

Explore NY 400

Did you know that New York is 400 years old this year? There are so many things planned by Explore New York 400 that you should not only plan to attend some of the events, but you should also check out the resources on the site for your students. The site is vast and there are many lessons and projects posted for educators, as well as volunteering opportunities too. You can even designate your school or class as a Quadricentennial School or Class so you can be a part of this historical event.

In the near future, we’re looking to plan some NY DEN events around the Celebrate New York’s 400th and the Discover New York theme. So check out the Explore New York 400 site and leave us some suggestions for locations and events that you would be interested in attending. Happy Birthday New York.
