I read the article linked above after seeing your tweet about it. It’s oh-so true that just going DOES make a difference, no matter how inconvenient it may seem. I cried reading it.
While I do not agree that painted toenails are a sure mark of Southern graciousness, it is definitely the way of a gracious person to attend funerals. Funerals are for the living and should be a way for friends and families to be supported in their loss. It might not be something that is particularly easy to do, but it fosters spiritual and emotional connectedness as human beings. And THAT is important for everyone.

our school district charges a per-student fee for any student riding the bus who lives withing 2 miles of his/her school
