Earning Your Learning: Autism, Apps and Accessibility

Today I accomplished something I’ve always wanted to do: sharing my experiences as an Educational Assistant!

Autism and the value for special needs learners to use technology to enhance their learning is near and dear to my heart.  It’s so important to allow visual learners to access their learning in a big way through what they see.  Temple Grandin is an example.  A forthright speaker on her autism and her ability to navigate her world, she has numerous books describing her experience as a visual learner.  She has compared her thinking process to Google Images.  Movies of images play in her mind as she has conversations with others. It is portrayed very well in the HBO movie about her life starring Claire Danes.(http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1278469/) Ms. Grandin has accomplished much in her life: professor at a university, business woman in the livestock industry, and writer.
