About Me
I am the Manager of Alternate Assessment at Discovery Education. In a nut shell, I work with states to develop and implement assessments for students with disabilities. I am currently working on several federal enhanced assessment grant projects with multiple states and universities.
When I am not working on assignments related to alternate assessments, I head up projects for mapping Discovery Education Assessment’s taxonomy to Discovery Streaming assets and external websites. I also contribute to Discovery Education’s Assessment blog (as your friendly assessment nerd).
I taught special education for 8 years, and remain a special educator at heart. Currently, I spend a lot of my time training teachers on standards-based instruction and assessment for students with disabilities. I generally incorporate technology and media ideas into the sessions. This is mainly because I <3 technology. I am a consumer, a user, and generally an early adopter of technology. (I own a “smart object“. That in itself makes me a g33k.)
