SHINING SC STAR

Introducing a monthly segment introducing you to one of South Carolina’s shining DEN STARs.
This month we will introduce you to the Blog Coordinator, Norma Jean Rockwell.
Mrs. Rockwell teaches Industrial Technology courses at Carver-Edisto Middle School in Cope, SC. She began teaching at CEMS four years ago; after beginning her teaching (3rd) career in 2005. The DEN STAR program was introduced to her as  a new teacher at Allendale-Fairfax HS. Rockwell was (and is) interested in expanding her catalogue of resources, and Discovery Education made finding appropriate resources too easy.
The DEN Tip comes from Karen Ogen (karenogen.blogspot.com). Rockwell’s favorite tip from the SC DEN Social Media Chair is Free Technology for Teachers. This website offers free downloads, tips, and connections to social media (Blog, Face Book, Twitter, etc).
Rockwell enjoys sharing new-found resources with others, which is why she is excited about the upcoming DEN SCIcon 2012 . She is planning on hosting an on-site professional development day, January 28, 2012, at CEMS. This 3rd annual webinar focuses on “effective strategies for transforming science classes through the meaningful and effective integration of digital media content.” Rockwell feels ‘Science is not just taught in science classes anymore. Everyone can take advantage of this webinar.’
Now that you know a little about Norma Jean Rockwell, wouldn’t you like others in our DEN community know a little about you and your favorite Tip? Just send me an email: cemsteacher@gmail.com and win a fun DEN prize!
