Mrs. Ruiz’s Blog

Today is the last full day of school with my 1st ever class of third graders.  We still have tomorrow, but it is a minimum day and I am sure the day will fly by.  I had a harder time than I thought I would adjusting to third grade from having taught 4th and 5th for 9 years.  I started out trimester 1 good enough, then slumped a bit in trimester 2, feeling generally overwhelmed, then I was able to get it together again in trimester 3.  Thanks to my grade level team, my close friend and colleague Bev, and an understanding principal I was able to survive.  I have asked to teach third again because I know I can improve and I have been allowed to do so.  I am looking forward to the coming school year and growing as a teacher, modifying my teaching to meet the needs of my students a bit better.
