Our fourth graders just finished burning their Fractions Claymation Project. The process was exciting and sometimes frustrating. The students worked in small groups to create a food item to use for the project. (Some students also created props, people and animals for their project.) They really enjoyed using the clay, taking pictures, recording script and using the program, but were not as enthused writing and editing the script. Next time I do a project in Claymation I will ask the Lang Arts teacher integrate the script into their lesson.
I am using the Clay Animation Kit from Tech4Learning, www.tech4learning.com. There was a discount for Star Educators before Christmas so I was able to purchase the product. The fourth graders will begin writing their storyboards today.
WOW! What a great day. During the day I got a lot of resources, ideas to use and met some amazing people. I especially liked the 50 Ways to Span a Digital Story by Steve Dembo. I am currently working with 2nd graders on storytelling, 4th grade with claymation and medical history timelines. The cogdogroo.wikispaces.com link Steve showed us will help make it easier for the students to produce their material. I have already played with VoiceThread and Toondoo.
Thanks again to DEN team for putting the Virtual Conference together!
This is my second go at blogging. I am excited to use DEN blogging and am going to try keep at it. I have been working with podcasting for the past year. Due to the host not being free anymore I am wondering how my students can post podcasts. My budget is already spent for this school year=( If you have any ideas please let me know.
