Don’t forget to join me, Laelia, tomorrow evening 5 p.m. SLT (8 p.m. EST) for ‘Your Inventory is NOT Your Junk Closet!’. This will be a voice-enabled (presenter only) workshop — and if you know how I feel about voice in SL I would show up JUST to see me present using voice! LOL
This is a ‘working’ workshop, so be prepared to get down and dirty cleaning out your Inventory.
As an added bonus, meet me at the desk in the lobby of DEN in SL HQs at 4 p.m. SLT (7 p.m. EST) and I’ll take you shopping for freebies! Mind you that’s a total oxymoron considering that the workshop is focusing on CLEANING out your Inventory and here I am taking you on a ‘field trip’ where you’ll end up filling up your Inventory with needless clutter! Oh well, all the more reason to hang around after for the workshop! Great marketing gimmick if you think about it! LOL
Riptide has been itching to do another Trivia Game Gathering and even though there is one planned for March, I had this feeling that Rip wanted to do something sooner. Well, sure enough. In less than 24 hours, Riptide managed to gather enough questions and answers relating to movies which won the Best Pictures category. I should have suspected something when I saw some of his posts on Twitter. I gotta tell ya, when we put our minds to something, there ain’t nuthin’ stopping us (real or virtual!). Not only did Riptide put together 80 trivia questions and answers, load them into the Trivia Game, but he create the perfect set for the entire affair - replete with red carpet, stantions, posters, and an Oscar or two. As soon as I popped in and saw the red carpet I hurried off to change into something a little more appropriate for the affair. Thonalon did the same — popped in, took one look at Rip and myself — and promptly headed off to his own virtual dressing room. As you can see from the shots below, many of us took the ‘Red Carpet Look’ to the extreme — and we looked DAMM good! Thonalon and Thunder were by far the leaders in their knowledge of movie trivia and some others in atttendance were impressive as well. I got only one question correct — can’t remember the question, but the answer was ‘An American in Paris’.

What a night! Vicki Davis at the Discovery Webinar, DEN in SL Workshop w/ Celestia on camera controls and how to move the sun, popping outside on the deck to watch the progression of the lunar eclipse — next one not until 2010 (at least that’s what they said on NBC Nightly News)….so just popped in to write a quick post.
Nice turn-out for the camera control workshop. Celestia presented using voice (her first time and what a FABULOUS job she did!) and shared some basics and then went on to share some tips and tricks. There was plenty of time for participants to practice taking some snapshots (Cel even had some cool backdrops set up in the DEN in SL HQs — hoping she’ll leave them up there for a few days) and then they all went over to the sandbox for a ’show and tell’ session. Oh and the surprise? I ain’t tellin’!!!
Heard that people were missing my ‘SLip’s, so I’m gonna be back in full force w/ them. And the first one, TOTALLY UNEXPECTED, came from Lor this evening. As we’re waiting for the workshop to begin I had a little difficulty hearing Cel so I kept trying to get closer thinking that would help. Lor showed me how to increase the sound (or mute them! LOL) of an avatar so I decided I’d share that info w/ you. If you look along the bottom right you’ll see the ‘Voice’ button. You’ll also see two little ‘cartoon character type’ voice bubbles. If you click on them a new window (see the screen shot below) opens up w/ all those around you who have voice enabled. Click on the avatar of your choice (I have Riptide Furse highlighted) and drag the slider to the right (or ‘mute’ if you don’t feel like listening to them) to increase the sound of their voice. CAVEAT: Do this incrementally!!! I slid mine all the way to the right and the next time Cel spoke I jumped out of my chair she was that loud!

Thanks Lor!!!

Don’t forget! This Wednesday, Celestia Cazelet, will be presenting ’Excuse Me, Could You Move The Sun?’ at 5:30 p.m. SLT (7:30 p.m. CST, 8:30 p.m. EST).
Most of you already have the power to move mountains, so here’s your chance to learn how to be even more powerful by moving the sun! You’ll learn tips, tricks, and strategies at this workshop that will enable you to have even more control of your camera in SL. If you’ve ever been frustrated at your avatar looking the wrong way when you want a closeup, or if you can’t seem to get that shot lined up the way you want it, you won’t want to miss this workshop! There might even be a
little surprise for attendees! (and I’m not even privy to what that might be!)
See ya’ll there!
So wandering around SL this day off, searching for places to shop for the upcoming Wednesday Workshop on February 27th. Decided to stop off at DEN in SL HQs to see what new changes are happening. Besides adding some rezzing dragonflies to the greenhouse and then being able to locate the emittor to move them (HELP!!!) and ran into Sand Broek reading some of the sign boards. I almost did a double take. She was wearing the EXACT same jacket as me! Now what’s the likelihood of THAT happening! Seems that not only did she get it from the same designer (on sale, like I did), but in order to get that, along with a myriad of other outfits we both had to use our camera controls to swoop into the Sim and make our purchases since the news of this designer’s sale had maxed the sim out. Not only was she kind enough to allow me to take a picture w/ her, but she was also a good sport and located some pink hair! I’m tellin’ ya — ONLY in SL! See for yourself…

Or not…I’m on a visual learning kick right now. Since I wasn’t able to attend the workshop (something about a husband [who might soon be an ex! NOT! LOL]) totalling my car (visualize a tree trunk embedded into the passenger side) and you can see why RL had to take priority over my SL. (BTW, husband came out w/o a scratch and is fine…really.) I’m including some of the photographs taken by Riptide and Lor and I ask that you, those who attended the workshop, comment below to fill us in and maybe share a tip/trick or two.

If you know me, you know that next to shopping I LOVE treasure hunts. I’m exploring the Ohana sim which is having a treasure hunt for the next few days. While ‘hunting’ I ran across this seating arrangement and I’m trying to decide if it resembles a dragonfly and whether I want to purchase it. Ah….SL…treasure hunting and shopping….I’m in heaven

Presentation by Nancy Sharoff
Don’t forget! This evening at 5:30 p.m. SLT (7:30 p.m. CST, 8:30 p.m. EDT) Thonalon will be presenting ‘Tinker Toys Basic Building’ workshop. We’ll meet up in the sandbox outside of the DEN in SL HQs. Hope to see you there!

Another successful Wednesday Workshop! Our very own DEN in SL LC member, Beth, facilitated the workshop. She went over each of the buttons on the client menu so that the participants understood what each button did and how to best utilize them. She shared how to do a search, how to join a group, and answered questions that arose during the discussion. The workshop was conducted in voice, with participants asking their questions in the chat window. As many of you know, I’m VERY anti-Voice, but after seeing how well the presentation worked with this type of format, who knows?, I just might take the Voice plunge the next time I do a presentation. I’m sure that a chat transcript will be posted in the Google Groups shortly, so be on the look-out for that. If any of you are attending the PETE & C DEN Pre-Conference day this coming weekend, be on the lookout for me (albeit w/o the purple hair!LOL). I’ll be hosting two breakout sessions in the morning on Second Life. I would love to finally meet some of you face2face! I know that Vita Demain will be there and I look forward to finally meeting her.
