Is there really one in every crowd?

This question goes out to the other Leadership Councils. Do you also have to put up with someone like this in your DEN?

Tour Guides Wanted

Got a some places in S/L you would like to share with others?  Southern started our Tour Series with a tour of lighthouses in S/L and we’d like YOU to become a DEN in SL Tour Guide!  It’s really VERY simple to do.  Contact one of the LC members with your idea and we’ll help you put it together, advertise the tour, and join you as a ‘guide on the side’ (no pun intended!LOL).

Help others explore S/L beyond the confines of the education sims and explore all that S/L has to offer.

It’s a Wrap - Bridging SL and RL…the Norwegian Way

This was too good to pass up….check out this Norwegian blogpost about the Wednesday Workshop conducted by Demb Oh.  This has got to be a FIRST for Demb Oh!

It’s a Wrap - DEN Tours Lighthouses in S/L

Come on a Tour of Lighthouses this Saturday

Southern Georgia, a proud member of DEN, invites you to explore lighthouses on different sims here in Second Life.  Get ready for a wonderful experience!

Notecards will be passed out which have all the landmarks (LMs) in order from start to finish.  In the notecards are more notecards the owner/creator has shared with Southern. They describe the house and sims.  Southern will be voice enabled and will be conducting the tour using voice.  We will be spending approximately 5-10 minutes at each lighthouse sim.  The purpose of the tour is to introduce you to the sims, but we will not have time to explore all it has to offer.  Each sim will be explored for about 10 minutes after which time Sourthern will let tour members know that the tour will be leaving the sim.  You can click on the LM to teleport (TP) yourself to the next sim.

So please come and join the tour group at the DEN in SL this Saturday, 11:00 am SLT, 2:00 p.m. EST).

While touring please take LOADS of photographs and send them to me at laelia.laval@gmail.com, subject line: Lighthouse Pics and I’ll include them in a follow-up post.

Gentle Reminder — Wednesday Workshop on March 26th

Don’t forget!  ESPECIALLY those of you who attended the ‘Your Inventory is NOT Your Junk Closet’ workshop!  Tomorrow evening we’ll be taking the next step with our inventory control (are you reading this Riptide?!?!?  LOL) and learning how to ‘Build It and Box It’.  You’ll learn how to build a container to ’store’ all your seasonal/non-essential/clutter from your Inventory to reduce its size and speed up the loading of your objects into your inventory.

The notecard and notice that was sent out stated that there would be a shopping spree prior to the evening’s workshop, however, that will not be happening.  Meet up is in the sandbox (since we need to ‘build’) outside of DEN in SL’s HQs.

See ya then!

It’s a Wrap! Building Bridges Between RL and SL

The DEN in Sdemboh.jpgL Wednesday Workshop series continued this evening with a hugely popular and very informative session presented by Discovery Education’s own Steve Dembo (Demb Oh in SL).

A large crowd gathered in the amphitheater set up for the occasion and learned about several ways to bridge communications between real life and Second Life. Participants even learned a little bit of building and the workshop progressed to the sandbox for a little practice.
