What in the World is a Shape?
This will be an Internet based Webquest requiring you to investigate various shapes, their properties, and how they exist in the real world. Later in the week, you will display your findings using Animoto!!!
Step 1: Identify the shape assigned to you. What is it made of and what are its characteristics?
Step 2: Define a shape. Click here to find information. http://www.alifetimeofcolor.com/study/g_shape.html
Step 3: Investigate Shapes! Click here to read about various geometric shapes. http://www.alifetimeofcolor.com/play/lineshape/shapes.html
Step 4: Explain how to calculate area and perimter of your assigned shape. You can use the following link to help. http://www.shodor.org/interactivate/activities/AreaExplorer/?version=1.6.0_10&browser=MSIE&vendor=Sun_Microsystems_Inc.

Step 5: Real World Connection – The shapes in every day life. Explore!

Step 6: Find your own photos of your assigned shape. In the end, you should have atleast 10 pictures saved to your documents. When saving your first image, right click and select ”save as.” Select MyDocuments and then create a new folder called “Problem Solving Animoto” using the folder with a star icon at the top. Your photos should show your shape and your shape in the “real world.” You will also be writing text to describe area, perimeter, and characteristics of the photos you’ve saved. We will do the animoto TOGETHER! Yahooooooo!!!!!!
very nice page =)
What a great way to learn geometry! I cannot wait to see the animotos!
This is sooo neat. I think this a great form of assessment on whether the students understand the shapes. Great work!!
