Change is the new normal…
I have been in education now for 16 years. The last 12 years has been as an elementary technology teacher. My position will change next year, not by my choice. Due to the ongoing battle for education in Michigan and declining enrollment, my current position has been reduced to part time. Fortunately, I am able to move into a third grade position next year.
This opportunity allows me to truly integrate technology in the curriculum. Instead of working with 500 1-4 grade students for 45 minutes once every four days, I will have 28 third graders for 6 hours everyday. I am already starting to formulate what I want my students to use:
- Class Blog to post daily assignments
- Flip camera
- Each student will have their own blog on KidBlog.org
- Set up an Edmodo Account for communicating
- Diigo Class space to compile list of websites
- Screencast to save Flip videos to.
- Scholastic Book Reviews
- ???
What are some other web/tech resources other third grade teachers find useful? What are good resources for bulletin board, classroom management ideas?
