Just a quick post to say Happy New Year to all of my DEN buddies! I am excited that the MO DEN is up an running for 2009, and I can’t wait to meet all the other DEN folks at METC near the end of this month. I will be hanging out in the METC connections lounge, a sort of mini-version of the NECC bloggers cafe and SL lounge. I have been looking for a way to connect with people “outside the choir” and I am hoping that this lounge will be a part of that idea. My challenge is to grow outside my current network, and bring new ideas and talent to DEN, and all things techie :) Who’s up for it?

Well, I am in big trouble now! I got a trial of Discovery Science, checked it out, and I really like it! I went to my tech department, and asked her to look at this amazing new tool. She said it looked great, but they had no money to subscribe this year. I understand that, so I went on with my life, searching for hours to find 3rd grade science content online, building my own assignments in Discovery Streaming….all the while thinking “man this would be SO much easier if I had Discovery Science!”- I’ll make do…I’ll teach with it until my trial runs out, but then what will I do?? I’ve had a taste of Science, and nothing else looks good enough anymore…I’m in big trouble :) Guess I’ll save my pennies, and keep hoping that Discovery will change it’s mind and offer an individual account that I can afford!

Well, here I am in the wonderful world of Discovery! I am doing my usual exploration of a new thing…diving right into the deep end, exploring all of the possibilities. I am amazed at how little I knew about the resources here, considering I have used parts of this website for several years. So now, I must admit I have a bit of D ENvy, because I have seen so many great ideas about how people are using this already, and I want to spend hours and hours figuring this all out, getting some content going, convincing my tech person to subscribe to “science”. So many resources, so little time!
