It is that time of year! We are thinking about all the things we are thankful for, thinking about the holidays, and thinking about others! As educators, we serve others all the time! To remain healthy, we need to think about ourselves!
During the DEN Summer Institute, we have DENFit activities. I am always inspired during that week to get up early and do something active! This year we had runners, walkers, yoga sessions, and even hula hooping! My goal as I left the Summer Institute was to stick with it! And I did continue even after I returned home, then life got in the way! The work days got longer, the responsibilities grew greater, and my time for me diminished!
Now as I move in to November, the more I feel drained and exhausted at the end of the day. I realize I need to take some time for myself! It can be a 20 minute walk, a bike ride, a run, or an exercise class. Doing this a few times a week makes a tremendous difference and helps me to be energized and focused.
I want to encourage you to take some time for yourself! Commit to something just three days a week. Post your workouts and accomplishments on Twitter and include #DENFit. Encourage a friend to join you! By doing this, you will feel better and be able to give yourself the gift of being #DENFit!
