Corporate Education Partnerships Highlights

While summer's been in full swing, July was still packed with engaging and impactful moments with our corporate partners. There were new content launches and, maybe most notably, the announcement of the student awardees of "America's Field Trip" Check out all the exciting updates below!

75 Students Selected to Participate in Special Field Trip Experiences Celebrating the 250th Anniversary of the Founding of the United States

America250 – the official nonpartisan entity charged by Congress with planning the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence – recently announced the inaugural cohort of “America’s Field Trip” awardees. 75 students in grades 3-12 from all over the United States were selected. The list of inaugural awardees and their submissions can be found here: america250.org/fieldtrip/awardees.  

America’s Field Trip is a new, nationwide scholastic contest that encourages students to create and submit artwork, videos, or essays on topics relating to American history, civics, and culture. America250 partnered with Discovery Education to develop toolkits with lesson plans and student activities that educators can use to bring the America’s Field Trip contest to their classrooms. 

Discover: Pathways to Financial Success in Schools

Discover’s Pathways to Financial Success in Schools program released a series of Animated Shorts for elementary students. The Financial Sense series covers important topics such as saving, balancing spending, how people get paid, and taxes in age-appropriate videos and classroom activities  

The STEM Careers Coalition (SCC)

The SCC launched 15 new STEM career videos that allow students to make direct connections between what they learn in the classroom to the real world. Students can explore profiles about people just like them who are using the skills they learned in school to become the kind of problem solvers that make a difference in their communities. 

The Home Depot: Science Fair Central

The Home Depot’s Science Fair Central program released a new Kids Workshops extension activity. Kids Workshops provide a mix of skill-building, creativity, and safety for future DIYers every month in Home Depot stores across the country. After registering for the next Workshop, download these exclusive extension activities from Discovery Education. Each extension provides opportunities to reimagine or use their Workshop creation in an unexpected new way.
