What a Great Day to be in the Bluegrass State

What a great day I had, for so many reasons.  Yesterday, I was honored and humbled to be a part of Kentucky’s statewide rollout of unitedstreaming.  I had the opportunity to spend the day with educators from both Kentucky Educational Television and the Kentucky Department of Education in an effort to inspire and empower teachers and students throughout the Commonwealth in the utilization of digital media.  The passion and commitment to teachers and students was evident the entire day and I hope to be a part of this initiative as it unfolds further.

My special thanks to all the great people at both KET and KDE, especially the leadership and vision of Kathy Quinn.  As promised, I have posted my PowerPoint from yesterday and hope that everyone will utilize it as they best see fit.  My hope is that all the educators attending yesterday’s training will see this blog as an avenue to share ideas, resources and training tips.

Wow! What an exciting day it was for me! I predict this day will go down in history as one of the “BEST” days for education in Kentucky. I was so honored to be invited to be in the company of those gathered to see the launching of this GREAT product in every public school in Kentucky. Plus to have the opportunity to witness the expressions of excitement on the faces of KDE Staff, KET staff and district representatives all on the same team, working toward the same goal, doing what is best for all Kentucky kids. This truly had to be one of the greatest experiences in my career in education. I’ve been on the road since mid May doing teacher professional development with two hard weeks left to go. I was really beginning to drag my feet, wondering where I would get the energy to get through the next two weeks and guess what? After this day, I’ve been re-energized! I’m so grateful for having had the opportunity to be a part of this event and I thank KDE for taking time from their busy schedules to support this product. Thanks to KDE for their warm hospitality and for working to make this incredible day possible. And thanks to Scott, Sarah and Andy for working with Kentucky to make this product the best it can be for teachers and kids in the Bluegrass State!
