Melanie Corn

Melaniecorn I have lived my entire life in Robinson, Illinois.  I received both my bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Eastern Illinois University in Charleston, Illinois.  I have been teaching for Robinson School District for the past 25 years, mostly in first grade.  This year I was excited to be chosen by Smart Technologies as an Exemplary Educator and  was invited to attend their conference in Calgary, Alberta, Canada this summer.  Last year I was added to Lincoln Trail Junior College’s Hall of Fame.  My husband Don teaches art in Oblong, Illinois,  We have two sons, Ryan, who is a graduate of the University of Illinois and now working as a mechanical engineer in Vincennes, Indiana, and Andy who is a pharmacy student at Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville.

I enjoy reading, walking, working on the computer, and participating in activities with our church. I am really excited to see the opportunities to use more technology in my classroom.  I feel that being able to use my SmartBoard in addition to the resources provided by Discovery and unitedstreaming enhances student learning so much.  It opens up so many opportunities for our instruction and the students’ learning.
