Walk into any classroom and what do you see? Desks. Books. Flag. Globe. A poster of a monkey dangling from a tree encouraging you to “Hang in There!” Well, it might not always be the monkey poster, but every classroom does have a poster (or two or three) on the walls.
It is with this reality in mind that the Discovery Educator Network (DEN) is pleased to present its first national contest for Discovery Educators and their students.
The DEN National Poster Contest challenges students to tap into their creative and technical talents to develop a classroom poster using images from the unitedstreaming™ Image Library.
Winners in each of three grade categories (grades 5 and under, grades 6-8 and grades 9-12) will receive a $50 gift card to the Discovery Channel Store and have their design produced into a full-size classroom poster. The winners will have their work hanging in classrooms all across the country!
The contest officially begins today, November 11, 2005. All entries must be received no later than Saturday, December 17, 2005 (5 P.M. Local Time Zone). Winners will be announced via the DEN blog on Friday, January 6, 2006 (Noon EST).

Any questions, please contact your local Discovery Educator Network field manager, post a comment here, or send us an email.
What would be the best way for the kids to explore the images for this contest? Should they recieve a password and search themselves?
Both my schools wish to enter. WHere do we find the Student Application (entry forms)we have downloaded pages 1-3 talking about contest rules but can’t find the forms you mention under #3.
Thanks for your help.
