unitedstreaming – Four a Day in May to Combat Spring Fever

Journaling — No question about it, I’m not a morning person.  In fact, I’m just not human until that Quad Venti Non-fat Mocha has kicked in.  My first graders knew this… and happily accepted me for the caffeine queen that I have become.  So, first thing, every morning, my students would write in their journals.  Check out the Writing Prompts in the Learning Tools section of unitedstreaming.  Or, if you are one of those terminally perky morning people, use the Image Library and create a journal prompt of your own!

Reading Support — Have you ever tried to watch TV with the captioning on?  Are you able to just watch the screen WITHOUT reading the captioning?  Does it drive you crazy?  You can have some fun trying to drive your students crazy too (just kidding!)  Play a unitedstreaming video or clip with the captioning on and help your students become better readers!

Have a Birthday Party — Today’s your birthday?  Probably not. But today, May 15th, is the birthday of L. Frank Baum, author of the book The Wonderful Wizard of Oz (1900).  Visit the Calendar feature of unitedstreaming to choose an upcoming birthday to celebrate with your class!  Happy Birthday to… who?

Supporting Resource — Okay, there are days when they’re just not getting it!  Grab a unitedstreaming video or video clip to grab their attention and bring a topic to life!

Please share with us your best unitedstreaming integration idea!

What a great idea…the 4 a day. Thanks for the ideas. I didn’t even THINK to have my kids use United Streaming for their state projects…darn it! But now you gave me an idea for those kids who have finished early. They can hunt for a clip about their state to share with the class so we can ALL learn something about their state. This can be a regular feature for the 10-15 minutes before we leave at the end of the day.
I knew there was a reason to check out your site today. Thanks.
