Fifteen ladies and Lance make for a great DEN Camp in Osceola County this week! Discovery Education and Osceola County School District have teamed up t
o sponsor Advanced DEN Camp. These teachers have committed to create a Unit Plan for their classrooms for the 2006-2007 school year. We are encouraging them to join with our other Discovery Educators at the Southeast Regional Event in Atlanta to "Create Masterpieces."
I read them Peter Reynolds wonderful story of encouragement called "Dot." If you haven’t had a chance to read it yet, go to Peter’s website, Fablevision, and check it out.
Lance took the ladies on a tour of 50 Ways to Use unitedstreaming and even showed them a mini lesson on Movie Maker. I learned a really cool thing today when Lance was showing the calendar. Today, June 19th is Juneteenth, the celebration of the end of slavery. I never knew that and I was especially surprised because it’s my birthday and I just never saw that before. Yeah unitedstreaming!
In the afternoon, Bobbi Kocher, Instructional Technology Specialist, gave us an expert tour into the depths of Photo Story and shared some incredible educational uses for Photo Story. She has created the most amazing manual in regular teacher language. PhotoStory3.pdf Thanks so much, Bobbi, for sharing your expertise with us.
Day 1 was amazing. I can’t wait to see what else this talented group comes up with. Our creative teachers include: Elaine, Debbie, Pam, Barbara, Wendy, Karen, Michelle, Amy, Michelle, Laurie, Roseanne, Mignon, Terrie and Leslie.
As always, I am
Ubiquitously yours,
Karen
The first day was sooo good, I learned some new things with, “50 ways to use unitedstreaming”, and the photostory that I plan to incorporate in my Unit plan. thanks
Reading about all the things happening at the DEN camp in Osceola County and seeing all of the pictures sort of makes me feel as if I’m in the wrong place. The regional event has been a wonderful experience and I’m definitely glad I participated in it but I’m sure the Osceola Camp is exciting and fun as usual.
