Heading to South Africa! Come visit the blog!!

This morning, I’m heading out with the Discovery Channel Global Education Partnership to Johannesburg, South Africa.  I know many of you have been following Coni and our six teachers as they have visited schools and the many sites of South Africa over the past week — on Saturday, I’ll be tag teaming them and taking over for a week.

I can’t wait to get there and see first hand what Coni and the team have been raving about all week, but I’m most excited about the educational connections I can make while we’re over there.  I remember so many of the African folktales that I covered with my students when I was teaching; I hope to gather assets that all of you can use to supplement your curriculum over the coming year, whether it’s language arts, science, math or social studies that you teach.

I am challenging (sure, you can read that as "begging" if you want) each and every one of the people I met at the Regional and National Conferences, as well as the DEN members I haven’t met face to face yet, to visit www.discoveryeducatorabroad.com frequently and post comments, questions and suggestions.

Emma Hobbs, Darcy White, Kristin Hokanson, Tom Turner, Frank Devereaux – don’t make me come after you (and that goes for everyone else too!)   Don’t leave me hanging out there alone on the website — come by and post comments on the discoveryeducatorabroad.com!!!   (please?!)

Though I’m usually not motivated until I’ve been double-dog-dared, I will be keeping even closer track of the group now that Betsy is there. I especially want to see if they can negotiate more than 11 cows “espousing” Betsy’s value to a tribe.

I’m sure Betsy’s value is AT MINIMUM 11 cows and 11 Goats…With the hard work and dedication she puts in for Discovery Education and the Network..it has to be that much.
