FETC is for the STARS!

FetcFETC’s pre-conference last year was a grand slam, and since then Karen and I have been bouncing ideas off each other for this year’s pre-conference. (Okay, I did a lot of bouncing and Karen listened. She’s a fantastic listener and she’s great at pinning me down. Hard job.)Then it came to us. We’re looking to do something special for the DEN Stars, why not take them to the stars? We’re all about the magic of digital media, why not take them behind the scenes of how that magic is created?

On January 24th, 2007, the DEN Stars will be hanging out at Universal Studios. Rise and shine because we start rolling at 7:30 am and go straight through until 3 pm! We Universal23start with a behind the scenes look at the movie and ride magic. Just how do they get the Mummy to terrify you? What does a park need to know about setting? How can you recreate a tornado that will rock your world? Can make-up really turn the most beautiful creature into a thing of horror? Then we will work on our own media productions, with the park at hand for any last minute footage. Attendees will have a choice between Digital Storytelling or Enhanced Podcasting for their final projects. All work will be done in the park.

I just took the Quiz and I am so excited about the possibility of learning Enhance Podcasting!! I had a tiny taste of Podcasting last summer, but want to learn how to use it as a training tool and teach others.

Brook- I’m working on making your hopes come true. Hang in there! You are a true shining STAR! Ask anyone I’ve trained lately. I always mention my boys from Polk, the difference is I always name you personally when I talk about Google Earth and your cool way of faking the streaming. 🙂

    Speaking of FETC…
I have gone for the past 2 years, and have enjoyed it. This year promises to be the best, however because I will be attending as a DEN STAR! It will be so cool to attend Tech as a part of the DEN. I look forward to attending events for DENs only, and having more of an “insider” experience there. I visited the Discovery “booth” each time before and actually longed to become a part of Discovery in some way. I was always a big fan and experienced the wide realm of adventure in the programming. O.K. this sounds pretty fluffy now that I think about it, but I have a genuine excitement in attending FETC as a part of the DEN. See you all there!
