IL Den Newsletter Information

It is fast approaching the holiday season and things are already hectic in my part of the state. Turkeys and Pilgrims are beginning to appear in the hallways and my first graders came back from music this week with songs and parts to practice for the December music program.

Along with all of this I am really looking forward to the IETC conference in Springfield on November 15th and 16th. The Illinois Leadership Council is planning on a get together on the Thursday evening, the 15th, of the conference. We will meet at 5:30pm in the conference hotel. I will send a reminder and exact location early next week so if you are planning to attend IETC PLEASE also plan to spend some time getting to know your fellow Illinois DEN members. We are so fortunate to have two of our own members share with us at the get together. Lori Abrahams is going to take us online to Second Life and fill us in on how we can all get a second life also. Joe Brennan is also going to share his Mythbusters presentation with us. If this isn’t enough to grab your attention and entice you to join us, there will also be snacks to enjoy while you listen and prizes to win. We hope you will plan on joining us at the DEN get together before heading out for dinner. Even if you can’t stay for the whole thing drop by, say hi, and see a little of what Lori and Joe have to share.

I know some of our fellow DEN members will be presenting at the conference next week also. If you are presenting please drop me a note and I will compile a list to send to everyone at the beginning of next week. This will be a great way to get to know some of our fellow DEN members while also learning from each other.

Discovery is hosting a Webinar tomorrow, November 6th at 6 PM CST titled, Makin’ Movies – Made Simple, with Jennifer Gingerich. There are also several other upcoming webinars that you can register for at the same link. The webinars are free and very informative. I hope you will find one or more that interest you and listen in.

I know that many of you are using Discovery and United Streaming in varied and unique ways in your classrooms. If you know of someone or you have an idea to share, PLEASE forward them to me so we can include them in future newsletters.

Have a great November!
