For the past two summers we have hosted some amazing regional and national institutes with STARs from all over the country. Our goal this year is to continue that tradition but also to extend these opportunities to more and more STARs. So…Virtual drum roll please…
We are very excited to announce our third annual DEN Summer Institutes. The DEN National Institute will occur at Discovery’s global headquarters in Silver Spring, MD from July 21-25, 2008. The week before, July 14-18, 2008, we will host the DEN Leadership Council Institute (also in Silver Spring, MD). Up to 100 STARs will be invited to attend the DEN National Institute and 50 leadership council members will gather for the LC Institute. We encourage all STARs to apply!
But it doesn’t stop there. Your DEN Account Managers are working very hard to finalize the schedule for something the DEN’s never done before. In addition to the 60 Days of Discovery we have planned, throughout the summer and fall we will be hosting seven two-day regional conferences in all parts of the country.
No matter what your schedule or where you live, we are trying our best to make sure that you have an opportunity to connect with your colleagues in fun, enriching, and collaborative settings. With this year’s plan, we will quadruple the number of STARs who get to attend an in-person summer event compared to the last two years.
So, let’s start with the National and LC Institutes at Discovery’s headquarters in Silver Spring, MD.
Lodging and meals will be covered by the Discovery Educator Network (see FAQs for more details). All travel costs to and from the institute, in addition to a $100 registration fee, are the responsibility of the STAR Discovery Educator.
